Huntingdale: Murrumbeena Primary School students visited Sankat Mochan Mandir today, to experience a Hindu Temple ambience and to learn about the world’s oldest religion – Hinduism.
About 160 students of grade 5 and 6 took keen interest about the Hindu culture and ethics.
“It was a pleasure to address such a keen group of curious students who took great interest to learn about the oldest religion known to mankind,” Dr Arvind Shrivastava of SMK said.
A powerpoint presentation allowing for relevant interactions, “reflected the positivity of the children with different religious, ethnic and nationality background to learn more about diversity in Australia – necessary to build a harmonious society”, Dr Shrivastava added.
“It was a gratifying and a very enjoyable experience and on behalf of Sankat Mochan Samiti Inc., I extend special thanks to Sue Reilly, who organsied this visit,” Dr Shrivastava said.
He also thanked the School and the Victorian Education Department for providing the opportunity to the young citizens to learn with a view of acceptance of the current diversified society.
“It is our duty to make such learning opportunities and experiences as interesting and informative as possible (and) leave a positive life-long impression” for the young generation he said.
