Sanjay Dutt is on the way to getting back to the camera.

He has said yes to three new projects so far. One is Siddharth Anand’s action film for which Dutt needs to get more physically fit. Another is the next film in Raj Kumar Hirani’s Munnabhai series.

However the third project that Sanjay Dutt has just taken on comes as a complete surprise. Dutt will star in a film directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

Chopra, it must be remembered, has not directed a film in Bollywood since Eklavya in 2007. The temptation to do something with Dutt was really strong this time.

Says a source: “It’s a very emotional father-daughter story with shades of Sanjay Dutt’s own relationship with his daughter, Trishala.

“Vinod Chopra wants to tell this story as homage to the emotional side of Dutt’s personality.”

Dutt and Chopra have earlier teamed up for two of Chopra’s directorial ventures Mission: Kashmir and Eklavya and have been very closely associated over the Munnabhai series which Chopra produces.

27 year old Trishala Dutt, is Sanjay Dutt’s first daughter who was born with mother Richa Sharma in 1988. Her mother died of brain tumour in 1996, after which Trishala was moved to the United States to live with her grandparents, following a custody battle with Dutt.

Trishala is also close to her aunt (mother’s sister, Enna). She completed her graduation in Law from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City.
