Actress Gwyneth Paltrow gets stung by bees as part of her beauty regime.
Paltrow shared that she underwent a series of treatments to make her look young and feel healthy, including getting stung by bees, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“I’ve been stung by bees. It’s a thousands of years old treatment called apitherapy. People use it to get rid of inflammation and scarring. It’s actually pretty incredible if you research it. But, man, it’s painful,” New York Times quoted the 43-year-old actress as saying.
Gwyneth Paltrow had recently launched her own natural skincare line and makeup range, but she also has her own treatments as extreme, as being voluntarily stung by bees.
Now regarded as a lifestyle guru, she said, “… it wasn’t pleasant”.
“… man, it’s painful,” she told The New York Times.
The secret behind this treatment is that the sting causes the body to direct blood towards the area and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin.
The Oscar-winning actress believes in natural therapies and products and is known to use only mineral sunscreens and avoid all chemical substances. She also stopped wearing any fragrances because “it’s unregulated and all that.”
It is understood that other celebrities like Kate Middleton, Victoria Beckham, Simon Cowell and Kylie Minogue uses the bee venom to keep their skin looking young and supple.
That venom tricks the skin to think, it has been stung lightly and that sets the process of the body’s natural collagen and elastin production.
Collagen strengthens body tissue and elastin is the protein that helps the skin to remain taught.
