Firas Hasan for Wyndham

Meet Firas Hasan for Wyndham
Chaffey Ward

If you are living in the Chaffey Ward area of Wyndham council, this is why you may consider to vote for Firas Hasan

As an elected councillor, Firas’s top three priorities will be”

Health, Jobs, Safety

Do you think your local council is appropriately representative of your community and its interests?

Definitely not, the current local council has become stale and out of touch with the community

What would you like to say to a potential voter to vote for you?

The job description of a councilor involves someone who is good with money and people. I have been a health practitioner and business owner for over 11 years and have demonstrated skills in leadership, community values, financial handling, organisation management and people management. I have four university degrees including a Masters degree in Clinical Chiropractic and a Doctorate in Medicine. Make sure you vote for someone who has proven experience and credentials rather than someone who is just all talk.

As a member of the Victorian community do you think migrant communities are appropriately looked after by the mainstream political parties in Victoria?

I don’t believe so. This is largely due to the underrepresentation of migrant communities in politics. We need more people from migrant backgrounds in politics so that the real Australia can be represented.

As Victorian of Indian/Asian descent what do you miss most about India / your country of origin here or what do you fondly remember?

I miss the community and family values the most. Fiji being a small island values close family ties and community and this is something I would like to encourage in our local council.

On Victoria’s handling of COVID-19, Firas says:

Our state government’s handling of the Covid-19 crisis was a joke and continues to be a joke. This is what happens when leadership is thrown into the hands of the wrong people. Make sure you don’t let this happen to your council. For the right people.
