Fed Sq Diwali (2018)

Celebrate India Inc. is once again fully ready with their Diwali 2019 celebrations program. Having delivered the festivities for many years, and growing by leaps and bounds each year, this year’s program promises to beat all previous offerings. With over 40 videos from groups and solo artists submitted, the very successful “Dance For Diwali ” competition  is back with various prizes to be won.

The solo categories winners will get a return ticket to India, sponsored by Singapore Airlines.

The winning Group will receive a Trophy and cash prize sponsored by Gaura Travels, with a chance to perform during Diwali @ Fed Square.

Major Art Project:

Celebrate India has also initiated a massive Indian art project, by painting the bland concrete blocks around Fed Square in the city with Indian Folk and traditional art.

“We are delighted to welcome some local students from Melbourne university along with a team of local Indian volunteers from our community, led by the Creative lead of Mrs Jaya Sharma of Celebrate India”, chair of Celebrate India, Arun Sharma told Bharat Times.

“How well people have appreciated this project is truly heart-warming. ONLY Photos can tell so many stories here”, visibly glad Mr Sharma added.

This year’s ‘Light for Diwali’ comp has a cross cultural theme when for the first time ever,  Celebrate India is inviting the community to illuminate their homes and businesses for DIWALI TO XMAS and win some amazing prizes including a return air ticket to India by Gaura Travels.

“This is unique initiative to show support and mutual respect for other cultures”, Mr Sharma added.

Diwali Sales
Few years back Celebrate India managed to convince Coles to start a Diwali sale in line with the Diwali festivities as it happens in India, while Woolworths responded in competition.

“This year, we are delighted to announce that we have now Melbourne Star offering 40% discount for their rides during Diwali; DFO Moorabbin has organised  Diwali sales and Indya Food/ Quality Indian stores are also offering special discount sale during Diwali along with Diwali decorations/illumination. Many Indian restaurants are joining this drive with illumination and offering sweets to their customers during Diwali which is a great gesture”, adds Mr Sharma with a feel of triumph (of the Indian community) and contentment.

Celebrate India requests all Indian Victorians to join in and spread the Diwali message of goodwill and tolerance among “our neighbours”.

Celebrate India will also be joining Beyond blue as the charity partner for this year to raise awareness and funds for Mental health and Depression in the community.

“We want the community to join in and show support by joining in the BLUE MOMENT during the program in the evening by flashing their phone light”, request Mr Sharma.
